Therapy

We all need guidance from time to time. Negative life experiences can leave us feeling out of control, stuck, sad, or anxious. Growing up in less than optimal situations can lead to challenges as an adult.

You are not alone, as many as 60% of adults have experienced abuse or difficult family circumstances as a child. Therapy from a licensed professional can allow you to leave the past behind and move into the present creating the life you want.

My therapy practice encompasses a body mind perspective. I utilize aspects of trauma focused therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and journal therapy to craft a safe, supportive environment for you to explore your inner self and create the person you want to become.

I am licensed in Illinois, Iowa, and Minnesota

About Me

I previously worked as a massage therapist, for 25 years. I worked in many types of settings and eventually opened my own wellness center outside Seattle, Washington. For many years I could feel where the body stored trauma and pain, but I didn't have the training to help those who needed more than just massage. This knowledge, of stored trauma, encouraged me to return to school.

My therapy journey began when I obtained my undergraduate degree at the University of Connecticut and masters of social work at Illinois State University. As a therapist I have worked with clients at inpatient psychiatric units, a drug treatment facility, a tele-health practice serving rural communities, and now in private practice. The focus of my therapy is working with adults who have experienced trauma, PTSD, childhood abuse, domestic violence, or sexual trauma.
